Admission of full-time programme

Brief information

Second cycle programme (MA) lass four semesters, in order to obtain the degree students need to prepare and defend their Master thesis.

CUE offers the following full-time Master’sprogramme:

  1. Applied Informatics
  2. Corporate Finance and Accounting
  3. Global Finance and Accounting
  4. International Business
  5. Modern Business Management
  6. Public Economy and Administration

Full-time (daily) programmes are held from Monday till Friday all day long.

The launching of the programme is conditioned by an appropriate number of candidates.

Admission – general info

Applicants for Master’s programme should hold the degree of Master’s, Bachelor’s, Engineer, or an equivalent degree.

NOTE!

Foreign candidates who hold the above mentioned degree from outside of Poland May apply for Master’s program mes at CUE only if their  diploma has been legalized and entitles to apply for Master’s programmes in the country of issue.

In order to verify if the above mentioned diploma issued outside of Poland entitles to apply for Master studies in Poland, it’s necessary to send the following documents to the Unit for Teaching Administration (studiainfo@uek.krakow.pl): copy of the diploma and transcript of records translated into Polish

Admission to full-time Master’s programme is possibile in two ways:

1. Admission based on Grade Point Average (GPA)/average grades

Only for CUE’ alumni of Bachelor programmes (year of graduation: 2021/2022), applying for Master programmes, in the same field as completed Bachelor studies. 50% of the overall limit set by the Senate for the academicyear 2022/2023 will be filled by CUE graduates, based on the GPA achieved during the first five semesters of a six-semesters programme Or first six semesters of a seven-semesters programme. The average grade cannot be lower than 4.0.

Exception:

In the case of major programmes that are included in the didactic offer only as a second-cycle programmes, CUE’ alumni may apply for an exemption from the entrance examination.

Candidates register on the Online Candidate Admissions (IRK) and make payment of the admission fee from 16 May to 22 May 2022.

When registering, candidates should provide average grades calculated by the Dean’s Office of CUE.

The announcement of persons who are exempt from the entrance exam on the basis of average grades is scheduled for 27 May 2022.

Candidates who are not included in the group of CUE graduates admitted on the basis of average grades must sit for the entrance exam. Therefore, they should choose a major programme/s and sign up for the exam/s on their IRK accounts – (Admissions based on the entrance exam). It is necessary to make payment of a new admission fee.

Candidates qualified for admission on the basis of average grades, who want to apply for admission to a different major programme, must sit for the entrance exam on the basis of a new registration on IRK and payment of a new admission fee.

2. Admission based on entrance exam results

CUE graduates, not qualified for admission on the basis of average grades, and graduates of other higher education institutions take a written qualification test which verifies the necessary knowledge enabling them to attend the chosen major programme.

For candidates who were not accepted on the basis of GPA and  for alumni of different universities/high er institutions.

  • Applied Informatics: examination in informatics
  • Corporate Finance and Accounting: examination in finance
  • Global Finance and Accounting: examination in finance
  • International Business: examination in international economic relations
  • Modern Business Management: examination in management
  • Public Economy and Administration: examination in public administration

Applicants may choose – apart from the selected major programme – an optional programme. Because of the fact that some major program mes require an examination in different areas, the candidates who choose an optional programme will have to take an examination in the relevant subjects.

When the number of points obtained in two different exams qualifies a candidate for admission both to the basic and alternative programme, a candidate will be admitted to the basic programme marked as the “first” one in the admission questionnaire.

A candidate can be admitted only to one major programme.

Application process/Required documents

STEP 1: from 06.06.2022 to 26.06.2022

(Applicable to persons apply on the basis of entrance exam)

1. open your account on Internetowa Rekrutacja Kandydatów IRK irk.uek.krakow.pl (Online Candidate Admissions)

2. send to the Teaching Department (studiainfo@uek.krakow.pl) the copies of the following documents:

  • diploma of completing first cycle studies, or a certificate of completing studies
  • diploma supplement
  • translation of the diploma and supplement into the Polish language (if you posses it)
  • a copy of your passport (page with a photo)
  • a copy of additional document– check what document is required

3. make payment of the admission fee (amount and individual account number available on your IRK account)

The entrance exam can be taken by all persons, including those who are not holders of the degree of master, bachelor or engineer. Candidates who are not holders of a diploma may apply for admission, but the passing of the exam does not guarantee admission until their diplomas are verified.

The entrance examination for full-time Master’s programmes will be held on 7th and 8th of July 2022. The list of admittedc andidates will be announced after the entrance examination, and admission will be conditioned by submission of a graduation diploma or, possibly, a certificate of the defense of a diploma dissertation along with the documents required at the second step.

Entrance exam: 07.07.2022 and 08.07.2022

Announcement of candidates qualified for admission on the basis of the entrance exam – 18 July 2022

 

STEP 2:

(Applicable to persons admitted on the basis of average grades as well as the entrance exam, who have already defended their diploma dissertations)

Submitting documents: from 21.09.2022 to 23.09.2022

Those of candidates qualified for admission who wish to submit documents at an earlier date are requested to directly contact the Unit for Teaching Administration.

The full acceptance is conditioned by submitting following documents:

  1. Undergraduate (Bachelor) studies certificate (Legalised, translated) – original and copy
  2. Supplement Or Transcript of Records for the whole period of Bachelor level studies (Legalised and translated) – original and copy
  3. The certificate confirming that the candidate’s Bachelor’s Diploma allows him/her to undertake Master’s studies in the country of issue.

Such certificate may be issued by the equivalent of Ministry of Education („Ministerstwo Oświaty”) in a given country (in that case this dokument should be translated intoPolish by a certified translator)

  1. A copy of additional document – check what document is required
  2. Printout of personal questionnaire – from Online Candidate Admissions
  3. Personal questionnaire (download the form)
  4. Copy of passport/ID Card (page with photograph)
  5. Statement about citizenship (download the form)

NOTE: Another person may submit documents on behalf of the candidate. In such a case authorisation is required (download the form)

 

IMPORTANT:

Qualification for studies is not equivalent to admission – admission is conditioned by submission of a complete set of documents entitling a candidate to undertake second cycle studies.

Admission to studies is confirmed by entry to the student’s list, after submitting required documents from the second step.

Failure to submit the required documents at the second step  implies the removal of a candidate from the list of persons qualified for admission.

Documents required at the second step should be delivered in a special file folder which a candidate receives upon submitting documents.

A candidate who is a student of the second cycle programme of a given major at the Cracow University of Economics may not apply for admission to the same major programme.

 

STEP 3:

By 14.10.2022, admitted persons shall deliver:

Student electronic card will be issued after submission of the documents required in the step 3.

Entrance exam

ENTRANCE EXAM

The entrance examination will be held on 7 and 8 July 2022.

On 5 July 2022, information on the time and place of the exam will be sent to email addresses submitted during the registration process (all candidates are obliged to get acquainted with this information).

On entering the examination room, candidates are required to present their passport/ID.

Entrance exams to all major programmes are computer-aided tests (stationary, at the University).

Tests contain 30 questions, 4 possible answers, single-choice questions. Each correct answer – 1 point. Duration of the examination – 30 minutes (if a candidate chooses two study programmes, the examination lasts 60 minutes).

 

Admission to full-time MA programmes is based on the entrance examination:

  • Applied Informatics – examination in informatics,
  • Corporate Finance and Accounting – examination in finance,
  • Global Finance and Accountig – examination in finance,
  • International Business – examination in international economic relations,
  • Modern Business Management – examination in management,
  • Public Economy and Administration – examination in public administration.

 

Examination topics for the candidates for full-time second cycle programmes at Cracow University of Economics:

Application fee

Candidates shall make payment of application fees. In the academic year 2022/23 the fee is:

  • Application fee: 85 PLN for each chosen study programme

Depending on the number of study programmes, the system will calculate an appropriate amount of application fee.

The amount of application fee paid by a candidate must comply with the number of chosen study programmes! Otherwise, unpaid study programmes will not be considered in the admissions process.

NOTE

  1. 1. Payments should be made into individual account numbers generated in Internetowa Rekrutacja Kandydatów/IRK – Online Candidate Admissions/.
  2. Only admission fees should be paid into an account generated in the IRK system. Payments for tuition, student residence halls or student IDs shall be made into another account. No application fee payments should be made into an IRK account belonging to another candidate.
  3. We advise you that the confirmation of the payment of your application fee will be displayed on your IRK account within 3 working days after the date of the transfer of funds.
  4. It is recommended that due amounts be transferred via a system that guarantees a prompt transfer of funds. Payments made on the last day of registration shall be considered eligible for the admission process.
  5. You are requested NOT to use cash deposit machines on CUE campus – they will not be paid into individual accounts or displayed in the IRK system!

Fees

Fees for Bachelor’s and Master’s studies held in English

All students enrolled in the studies held in English at a Bachelor’s and Master’s level are liable to payment of tuition fees. The tuition fees are the same for Bachelor’s and Master’s level.

 

Full-time studies:

· Tuition fee: 5500 PLN per semestr

The total fee is payable for the first semester, while payments in instalments are accepted for subsequent semesters.

· Student electronic card: 22 PLN

 

Part-time studies:

· Tuition fee: 5500 PLN per semestr

The total fee is payable for the first semester, while payments in instalments are accepted for subsequent semesters.

· Student electronic card: 22 PLN

Important information

Legalisation of foreign documents of education

Legalisation is the certification of a document’s formal conformity with the law binding in the place of its issue or of the authenticity of the seals and signatures placed on the document. Legalisation of a document by the relevant authorities in the country in which it was issued increases its credibility.

1. Legalisation with Apostille

If a country in which a given document was issued is a party to the Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, concluded in The Hague, the document’s legalisation is replaced by an Apostille certificate attached to it. 2. Normal Legalisation

If a country in which a given document was issued is not a party to the aforementioned Convention, the document’s legalisation remains the responsibility of a Polish consular office in that country. Depending on the type of a document, Polish consular offices will use one of the three categories of legalisation clauses: full legalisation, standard legalisation, authentication.

 Translation by a sworn translator

All official documents issued abroad should be translated into Polish by:

  • a Polish sworn translator registered on the list of translators published by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Poland

  • the consul of the Republic of Poland in the country in which documents were issued
  • a person registered as a sworn translator in an EU member state, an EFTA member state, an EEA member state, or an OECD member state.
  • an accredited diplomatic representative to Poland, or the consular office of the country in whose territory, or within whose educational system the documents in question were issued

Health insurance:

All foreign students should have an insurance policy for sickness and accident in Poland. Such a policy should cover at least the first year of studies, amounting to 30,000 EUR for medical treatment throughout the insured period.

An insurance policy can be confirmed in the following way:

  1. an insurance policy with Narodowy FunduszZdrowia NFZ, ul. Wadowicka 8W Kraków (the National Health Fund)
  • The holders of the Card of the Pole admitted to studies should sign a contract with NarodowyFunduszZdrowia, and submit its copy to DziałNauczania(Unit for Teaching Administration) and DziałSprawBytowych (Unit for Student Living Issues).
  • Persons who are not holders of the Card of the Pole may sign a contract with NarodowyFunduszZdrowiaand make premium payments on their own. A copy of a contract along with payment confirmations should be submitted to DziałNauczania.

NOTE!

To sign a contract with NFZ (the National Health Fund), a student needs the following documents: a certificate confirming admission to studies, PESEL number, a document confirming a student’s residence (e.g. a residence hall).

In the case of the holders of the Card of the Pole or the decision confirming Polish descent, an NFZ premium can be paid by the university.

Prior to a visit to NarodowyFunduszZdrowia, please check what documents are required for applying for an insurance policy.

The necessity to check required documents applies, in particular, to persons under age!

All foreign students who wish to study in Poland are required to legalize their stay.

–  The citizens of the EU and Switzerland are only required to register their stay;

–  Non-EU foreigners must hold an entry visa or a temporary stay permit.
